When looking for a monitor for gaming you want to find one with gaming grade specifications including most importantly a fast response time. The problem with most HDTVs is that they don’t necessarily have fast response times and aren’t made to use as monitors. While you certainly can’t consider a HDTV to be a monitor there are certain HDTVs that are made in a way that are made specifically for gaming. One that I really like is the VIZIO XVT323SV which comes with a 5ms response time, which will allow for little blurring between movies or games. While there are certainly monitors available with 2ms or 1ms response times, overall this is great for an HDTV.
VIZIO XVT323SV 32-Inch Full HD 1080p LED LCD HDTV with VIA Internet Application
While this isn’t the cheapest HDTV you’ll come across, compared to other Smart HDTVs, it’s very reasonable. The Vizio XVT323SV comes with Vizio’s Internet Apps which include just about everything you can imagine. It’s wireless, so you don’t have to hook up a separate Ethernet cable Full 1080P High Definition Resolution, 1,000,000:1 Dynamic Contrast Ratio, 120Hz Smooth Motion Technology, a 178/178 Degree Horizontal/Vertical Viewing Angle, Two built-in 10-watt speakers, and 4 HDMI connectors.
What one verified owner said about the XVT323SV:
“This TV is GREAT. I purchased this TV because I was going to college and wanted a nice tv for the next 4 years I plan to be there. So I looked all over the place and this one had the perfect specs I wanted and right at the price range I was going for. The remote is amazing. It has a full qwerty keyboard and connects through blutooth. This means you can connect to a bluray player or even an xbox 360!!! I have both and it works flawlessly. The picture itself looks bright and crisp and there is no lag when playing intense video games. I strongly recommend this TV!”
Overall it’s a great value and one of the best LED HDTVs you’ll find for gaming. What monitor would you use as a monitor? Leave a comment below with the brand, model number, and any specifications you’d like to start a discussion about.
